Curatorial residency at Fire Station (Dublin, Ireland)

In the beginning of 2015 Mare van Koningsveld & I responded to an open call for curators. The call was initiated by Fire Sation in Dublin. Fire Station is located in the north east inner city of Dublin. “The Fire Station Artists’ Studios was established in 1993 to provide support for professional visual artists.”Fire Station at present provides subsidised combined living and working studios for Irish and international artists and curators. “A key policy of the Fire Station is to contribute to the debate on collaborative and socially engaged arts practice, through a commissioning process that incorporates critique.”

In april 2015 we got the news that we were selected for the residency. Therefore Mare & I spent 2 weeks in Dublin in June 2015. We a.o. did research on a topic about which we might want to organise a project in the future. As part of this research we spoke with a lot of art organisations and did a couple of studio visits. We also gave a talk about our practise as freelance curators at Fire Station.
